I decided my latest painting was going nowhere. I scraped all the paint I could off and scrubbed down with a plastic sponge/scrubber with water, as I do my pallet. Of course not all the paint came off so I poured neat washing up liquid on, rubbed it in and left it 10 minutes. When I scrubbed again most of the paint wiped off easily and a little patient scraping fetched the rest off.
For my pallet I get off-cuts of poly-carbonate picture framing glass from my friendly frame maker, cut it to size with a Stanley knife and stick it over my old pallet board with double sided sticky strip, and use that. It is easy to replace when worn out.
Can anyone tell me how to keep the form of my brushes from splaying? I follow all the rules from Rosemary, they are Rosemary Ivory brushes, but I still manage to get them splayed. I do not fill the brushes with paint when using them. Could it be that my cleaning is too vigorous and I am forcing paint down into the ferrule. Answers please. Graham Marsden.
