Anne Toase

Anne Toase

Anne studied at Croydon and Hammersmith College of Art. The foundation of her working practice is drawing and the expression of colour. Life drawing was her first love and Anne attends regular life drawing sessions on the Isle of Wight using her drawings as the basis for figurative painting and also moving into more abstract work.

Anne has used water soluble Oils for several years enjoying the freedom from solvents and the easy cleaning the medium delivers. As a colourist, it is good to see more companies developing a water soluble range and the choice of new brands and colours is exciting.  Anne is also moving away from cadmiums and always pleased to see the development of more environmentally friendly pigments.

Anne also enjoys working in watercolour, pastels and acrylic and is inspired by her love of nature and flowers in particular.

Anne has been teaching art since 1975 (apart from a break to get a haircut and a proper job as a software engineer in London and raise a family).

She has been tutoring weekly classes and running workshops in Hampshire for the last six years. Her work has been selected for RWA the SWA and won several awards while exhibiting with local Art Clubs

Anne’s work is in collections in Europe and Asia.
