Inaugural Open Painting Competition 2020 in amateur and professional categories

  • A Landscape Painting
  • A Seascape Painting
  • A Portrait/Figurative Painting
  • A Still-Life painting

Competition Rules

To help launch the Society this, the inaugural competition will be free to enter, both in the amateur and professional categories.

  • All entries must have been created using water-mixable oil paint
  • All entries must have been created no earlier than January 1, 2018
  • Limited to two entries per person in each category
  • The competition invites online only entries therefore the original artwork could be any size
  • Submission by digital image (jpeg) no larger than 3mb sent to hello@spwmo.org.uk
  • Closing date for entries is October 31, 2020
  • The selected, shortlisted finalists will be notified by November 31, 2020
  • Winners Will be notified by January 31, 2021
  • Selected winning finalists’ work will be exhibited on the Society website and in the following newsletter
  • Please tell us if the work or photograph of another artist was used as the source material for your entry
  • Entries should be sent to hello@spwmo.org.uk along with the following information…
  • Name and address
  • Gender
  • Email address
  • Status – amateur or professional
  • Category – Landscape, Seascape, Portrait/Figurative or Still Life
  • Title, surface and dimensions of work

The Prizes

The Winsor & Newton Artisan prize for the best Landscape Painting in Amateur and Professional categories will each receive an Artisan Studio set.

The Royal Talens (NA) Cobra prize for the best Seascape Painting in Amateur and Professional categories will each receive a Cobra gift set.

The Leisure Painter and The Artist magazine prizes for the best Portrait/Figurative Painting. The Amateur category will receive a one-year free subscription to Leisure Painter, and the winner of the Professional category will receive a one-year free subscription to The Artist magazine.

The Rosemary & Co prize for the best Still-Life Painting in Amateur and Professional categories will each receive a Gift Set 125 of ‘Ivory’ brushes.
